Overview

LifeScan is recruiting a Global Corporate Controller to report to the Chief Financial Officer. This position will be remote, and candidates in the Northeastern United States will be preferred. 

 

Job Focus: 

The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function across all international operations. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with US GAAP and local accounting standards, managing both a US-based and an internationally distributed team of accountants, and implementing strong internal controls to mitigate financial risk. The Corporate Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and collaborates with various business units globally, effectively serving as the central point of contact for all international accounting matters within LifeScan.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements for all international entities. Oversee the consolidation of financial data from multiple subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and local statutory accounting requirements. 
    • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and analysis for senior management, including variance analysis and key performance indicators. 
    • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Led the global annual audit and quarterly review process conducted by Big 4 accounting firms along with local audits across the globe.
    • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls across the global organization to mitigate financial risk. 
    • Monitor adherence to accounting policies and procedures, identifying and addressing potential compliance issues. 
    • Collaborate with the internal audit team to facilitate smooth audit processes and address any findings. 
  • Team Management:
    • Build and lead a high-performing global accounting team, providing mentorship and development opportunities. 
    • Manage and delegate tasks to accounting staff across different regions, ensuring efficient operations. 
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the finance team. 
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Stay updated on complex accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, FRS 102) and interpret their application within the global business environment. 
    • Analyze and address technical accounting issues arising from new business initiatives or transactions. 
  • Strategic Initiatives:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency. 
    • Participate in cross-functional projects to support business growth and strategic planning. 
    • Collaborate with other departments like operations, sales, and legal to ensure alignment on financial matters. 
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts. 
    • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts. 

Qualifications

  • CPA certification with strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Extensive experience managing international accounting operations and audit, preferably in a life sciences and medical devices company in a global setting (North America, Europe, Asia). 
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing diverse teams across multiple locations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across different regions
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools 
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 accounting firm is a plus).
  • JDE experience is preferred, but not required.

Education: 

 

  • CPA required. 

Actual salary range is based on the requirements of the job and your skills and experience. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and LifeScan reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

 

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
